Intellectual Radio Interview
Bill Evans was interviewed by the hosts of Intellectual Radio. Please take time to listen to how Bill answers the hosts' questions regarding crime fighting, jail operations, and professionalizing the sheriff's office.
The Boston Tragedy

Our hearts go out to the people and families who witnessed and suffered the carnage in Boston. There are no words to sufficiently comfort them. Nor are there adequate words to thank the first responders who ran into the face of danger to comfort and protect the bombing victims. Their first reaction was to run to – and not away from – the scene of the blasts. I have never been prouder of my fellow law enforcement brothers and sisters who drew upon their training and devotion to duty in such a totally professional manner.
Sincerely,
Bill Evans

Special Guest Speaker for Night at the Races Event
My family friend and inspirational speaker, First Sergeant Matt Eversmann, will be our special guest at the Night at the Races fundraiser on Thursday, February 28, 2013.
About First Sergeant Matt Eversmann
First Sergeant Matt Eversmann's legendary leadership, while facing the horrors of war, cemented his status as an American military hero. Portrayed by Josh Hartnett, Eversmann was immortalized in the epic film Black Hawk Down. The movie Black Hawk Down recounts the 18 harrowing hours when US soldiers in Somalia were trapped in a hostile district of Mogadishu. Young Rangers and Delta Force soldiers fought side-by-side, outnumbered, and marked for death by an angry mob, until a rescue convoy was mounted.
Committed to sharing the lessons he learned in the military, inspirational speaker Matt Eversmann focuses on motivating all people, be they soldiers, students, or employees, through values-based leadership, encouraging them to do their best and dedicate themselves to a cause. His courage and patriotism are unmatched, and his power as a motivational speaker is unrivaled.
Matt Eversmann has received many military decorations, including the Army Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Ribbon, eight Army Achievement medals, and four Army Commendation medals. For his service in Somalia, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor device and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. Before his retirement in early 2008, Eversmann served 18 months in Iraq leading an elite Army Ranger force.
Black Hawk Down Hero Endorses Bill Evans for Sheriff
"Leaders must be selfless, courageous and dutiful. Bill Evans personifies all these values He is a smart leader, he knows how to think, not what to think.
The Evans family supports our country; they support Cook County. We are safer because of men like Bill on watch.
I’ve know Bill Evans for over 20 years. His love for his county, his department, his family, and for being a police officer is always on his sleeve. Leaders solve problems because of their skills, values and passion. Bill embodies all of these.
You only get through a crisis with strong leadership. Cook County needs a sheriff and leader who takes action. Bill Evans is a man of integrity and courage who takes action — on the streets and in the office. He should have been a ranger."

Captain Herbert "Herbie" Johnson
Today I am asking you to join me in the mourning of the loss of a hero, friend and neighbor of mine. Today they laid to rest Captain Herbert "Herbie" Johnson of the Chicago Fire Department. Herbie lost his life too soon while fighting a fire in the Gage Park neighborhood.
I can only remember good times, laughter and a generous spirit when I think of Herbie. My thoughts and support go out to all of Herbie's family, friends and coworkers during this difficult time. I give my sincere condolences.
The Fight for Martin McGarry

I would like to take a moment to ask for your support in something more important than a political campaign. My dear friend, mentor and boxing coach has been diagnosed with a rare and life threatening disease. In February 2012, Martin McGarry, owner of McGarry’s Boxing Club, was diagnosed with Familial Amyloidosis, a hereditary disease which claimed the life of his mother and two brothers.
A fundraiser to provide assistance and help for Martin McGarry will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 115 Bourbon Street in Marrionette Park. Please come out to show your support for a man that helped many kids and young adults become good citizens and contributors to our society.
I credit Martin McGarry for setting the foundation for many of the successes and accomplishments in my life. I am further honored for being named Honorary Committee Member for this event.
You can support The Fight for Martin McGarry in so many ways, even if you cannot attend the fundraising event. Please visit the event web site by clicking this link The Fight for Martin McGarry.
